Well, old man winter is finally arriving, and he is not playing around. It's all or none it seems like here in our neck of the woods. With freezing temperatures expected, I would like to remind everyone to take the necessary precautions to help prevent damage to your home, plumbing, and personal property.

Please take the following steps to protect your property and ensure your safety • Cover all exposed exterior pipes and faucets • Disconnect and store garden hoses • Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate • Allow faucets to drip slowly during periods of extreme cold • Know the location of your main water shutoff valve • If you have an irrigation system, turn off your backflow preventer and drain the pipe • Bring pets indoors or ensure they have adequate shelter and warmth • Protect sensitive plants or bring them indoors • Ensure you have at least one week’s supply of medications, food, and other essential items • If you own a generator, please test it now to ensure it is in proper working order before the freeze.
